Enjoy some Cornish vibes at home this November with online events
November in Padstow is a month full of atmosphere and anticipation. Winter is in full swing, Christmas is just around the corner and cool, crisp days pull up their evening blankets early on. Though Coronavirus restrictions have prevented many much-anticipated events from taking place near our luxury cottages in Padstow this year, there are a number of brilliant online events you can look forward to instead whilst safe at home, feet adorned with woolly socks and warm beverage in hand.
As the 2020 North Cornwall Book Festival was unable to take place this year due to Covid-19, the festival organisers came up with a creative solution. Hosting a series of films giving you a glimpse into the lives of different authors, films will be added each Friday at 5pm throughout the autumn.
If you are looking to learn new skills during lockdown, you can take part in home-based workshops with the world-famous Leach Pottery. Led by expert potters, there are all sorts of fun online activities, including excellent follow-along videos.
Instead of Liskeard’s annual Christmas celebrations (which normally include a brilliant lantern parade), this year the town is sharing its traditions online. Kana Nadelik (Christmas singing) is an online community singing project, keeping Cornish singing from Liskeard’s Nadelik Lyskerrys Festival alive and people connected through lockdown.
For the 19th edition of the Cornwall Film Festival, in collaboration with Film Bath, Cambridge Film Festival and Brighton CineCity, the Amplify Film Festival will be going virtual. Delivering an innovative, exciting and diverse film experience completely online, it will bring together over 100 years of festival experience for an unmissable event.
For any thespians looking for inspiration this November, you may well be interested in Cornwall Drama Association’s online theatre day. A day filled with a series of free theatrical workshops, you can get involved in everything from dance classes to writing pantomimes.
