Taking place from the 5th to 8th December 2019, Padstow Christmas Festival is celebrating its 12th anniversary this year!
Organised by super foodies and Padstow-philes Rick Stein, Paul Ainsworth and Nathan Outlaw, Padstow Christmas Festival is one of the UK’s largest food festivals and most exciting events of the year. An unmissable celebration for anyone staying in one of our luxury cottages, it unites the best of the country’s culinary talent, producers and makers in a multi-sensory array. In other words, it’s a must-attend.
Increasing in popularity every year, Padstow’s family-friendly festival attracts over 40,000 visitors. Set around Padstow’s harbour side in a colourful sprawl, the festival is full to the brim with lots of different stalls, each selling unique and delicious products. From food to fine craft, the festival offers the perfect combination for Christmas-lovers with a penchant for haut-cuisine and quality local products. Say hello to local food producers such as Cornish Sea Salt, Da Bara Bakery, Cornish Gouda and the Wonky Kitchen and sample culinary delights. There is even a host of wine, beer and gin stalls if you are feeling like living on the edge!
Ever had a burning question you have always wanted to ask about cooking? Now is your chance. A food festival at its core, this year’s festival will feature two theatres, the Festival Stage and the Sharp’s Chefs Theatre, where award-winning chefs will demonstrate their favourite recipes and offer cooking top-tips. Head along free of charge and seize the opportunity to ask the pros for their expert advice. Among the familiar faces this year, there will be demonstrations from Michael Caines, Angela Hartnett, Rick Stein and Mitch Tonks.
Once you have had your fill of creative juices, take your time wandering around the festival. With over 100 local producers selling a wealth of gourmet gifts, from local ales to hand-made jewellery to Christmas decorations, there will be ample to keep you occupied. Peruse the many stalls and stock up on little presents for the family – you may even find something for yourself too. Well, it is Christmas! A beautiful soundtrack to the festival, live music from the bandstand plays throughout the day too.
Visiting Padstow Christmas Festival will give you a true taste of Christmas, South West-style. Amongst beautiful scenery and stunning views, this inclusive festival is a treat for all ages. Throughout the event there will be lots to watch and join in with, with spectacular fireworks, carol singing and a lantern parade all but a few things to look forward to. Remember to also keep your eyes peeled for the arrival of Santa Claus making his way on his horse-drawn Victorian bus, before taking your little ones to meet him in person at his magical festive grotto.
For all the latest information and talk timetables you can visit the festival’s website. There is also a festival map provided for you to plan your visit so you won’t have to worry about missing a thing.
