Food. Coffee. Wine. Padstow. Could you find a more perfect combination?
With views leading down towards the sea, BinTwo sits quietly back from the main hustle and bustle of Padstow’s harbour and invites welly-clad walkers with tufty-pawed pups and suited and booted ladies and gentlemen into a world of exquisite tastes and oaky perfumes.
Whether you are here for a short break or much-anticipated week away, no trip to Padstow would be complete without popping into BinTwo. Self-professed independent wine merchants “with a twist”, these passionate, knowledgeable artisans have created the perfect space in which to sip fine wines, savour speciality coffee and pour over a small but mighty menu.
Just right the size in just the right location with just the right amount of choice, you can head in any day of the week to peruse the well-stocked shelves or see if you can grab yourself a table. Featuring a humble number of tables inside and more outside on the terrace (when the weather behaves), you won’t be able to reserve a table – you simply turn up and wait to be seated.
Carefully managed by owner Mike, the first port of call, naturally, is the hand-selected wine list. Offering a wide variety of delicious wines, you can opt for a splash of luxury with their devilishly quaffable Billecart-Salmon Brut or Brut Rosé champagne, or go for something a little more modest that will tease the taste buds in glorious waves without breaking the bank.
Of course, if you’d really rather something else, BinTwo also proffers an extensive array of beer and spirits, from premium whiskies, brandies, cognacs and liqueurs to locally-distilled gins and vodka. Many are available by the measure in the restaurant; although it’s not a problem if they aren’t – you just simply have to take a bottle home with you!
Alongside their liquid delicacies, the shop’s food menu is clear, concise and utterly delicious. Reflecting the same emphasis on quality and chosen as perfect complements, you can wrap your lips around freshly caught lobster served in a soft brioche roll, or perhaps the hand-picked dressed crab? Maybe the charcuterie board will win you over, or perhaps the classic fresh bread and balsamic combination that is oh-so irresistible.
Whatever you choose, you are sure to leave BinTwo with a new favourite and a hankering to return as soon as possible.
