Buttermilk Confectionery

Calling all sweet teeth! If you have a taste for treats, a penchant for puddings, a fancy for fudge, a hankering for honeycomb… there is only one place you should go: Padstow’s Buttermilk Confectionery.

It all started back in 1964, when Elsie and Betty combined their passion and expertise to create something truly delicious. Taking their love for all things sweet and parcelling it into artisan confectionery goodies that could be savoured by all, Elsie and Betty breathed life into something that would become a real Cornish institution.

Taken over by the capable hands of David (Elsie’s son) and Tracy in 2010, Buttermilk Confectionery’s dribble-worthy name is still as popular as ever. Using the same traditional techniques and inputting the same love and attention to detail, David and Elsie have been tantalising taste buds with delectable delicacies for years.

Pouring liquid goodness into traditional copper pans over open flames, Buttermilk Confectionery’s master gourmands blend local and ethically-sourced ingredients to create truly divine fudge, honeycomb, nut brittles and chocolates, all in house. Mouth watering yet? Well, with over 60 flavours to delve into and a whole host of awards to recognise their talents, we’re not surprised!

Pop along to their shop in Padstow (Elsie and Betty’s very same) to satisfy your sugar lust and treat your taste buds to a nibble of something sweet. Two of their most popular flavours, the classic clotted cream and delicious caramel sea salt fudges are well worth a try, but if you fancy something more adventurous there is plenty on offer.

If you find yourself back home and missing the tastes of heavenly chocolate-covered honeycomb or pink gin fudge, fear not. Many of Buttermilk’s Confectionery can be bought online through their website and most of their products last between 2 months to a year, so you can stock up on all your favourites.
