February Fun

This February in Cornwall sees us celebrating much of what makes Cornwall, Cornwall. One such event, St Ives’ Hurling the Silver Ball, is a tradition spanning back nearly a thousand years and involves ‘townsmen’ and ‘countrymen’ competing for possession of a silver ball. The victor, whoever returns the ball to the mayor, is rewarded with a great sense of pride, one silver coin and, we suspect, several free drinks. Whether you are a local or visitor, this selection of events should not be missed.

Hands On

In Cornwall we are blessed with miles of stunning coastline and beaches, and we know that being able to enjoy this truly beautiful environment is a privilege.  Sadly, our beaches are under siege. With countless tons of plastics and pollutants washing up on our shores every year, local groups are taking action and gathering together to fight back. Enjoying the fresh Cornish air, meeting new friends and making a huge difference, the work of these groups is crucial in protecting our environment. If you would like to add your support, check out this month’s list of beach cleans.
