Food lovers assemble; Paul Ainsworth at No.6 is the place to go for a Michelin Star experience in a beautiful Cornish setting.
Set in a lovely Georgian townhouse just a short stroll from the harbourside, Paul Ainsworth at No.6 is tucked in the heart of Padstow. After learning his trade under famous chefs such as Gary Rhodes, Gordon Ramsay and Marcus Wareing, Ainsworth’s Michelin Star restaurant serves modern British food with an emphasis on fresh, local produce.
A college apprentice working under Rhodes, Ainsworth has been honing his skills in the kitchen since 1998. After various roles working under top chefs in London and several TV appearances, Paul along with his wife Emma made the decision to move to Padstow in Cornwall. Having instantly fallen in love with the area, the Ainsworths now open their doors to guests to share their award-winning culinary masterpieces.
Under Head Chef John Walton, the talented team at Paul Ainsworth at No.6 serve imaginative creations, packed full of flavour. Local goods and produce are used wherever possible, celebrating all the South West has to offer in a menu that caters to everyone. Combining tasty, wholesome ingredients with contemporary styles and flare, the restaurant blends the perfect level of comfort and pizzazz.
From fish to fowl, Ainsworth’s inventiveness and outside-the-box thinking attracts lots of visitors looking for tongue-teasing treats. Meals are updated and served with seasonal accompaniments, meaning there is always a fresh, new element to courses throughout the year. If you have a sweet tooth, the restaurant’s selection of desserts receives loud applause too. Well, it would be rude not to give them a try.
An extensive wine list is provided to accompany meals, and there is also a bar with a range of cocktails and drinks to choose from. In the summer, these can be enjoyed in the restaurant’s courtyard. The inclusive menu, competitively priced, provides vegetarian options and a children’s selection too. Further dietary requirements can be catered for with some advance notice.
With warm, professional service and top quality food, visitors to the restaurant can sit back and enjoy the whole experience. A clean, light and modern interior gives an understated and sleek feel. Simple designs are polished with a neat eye for detail, and the restaurant manages to successfully strike a balance between London chic and Padstow charm.
Described as “Padstow’s premier gastronomic address” in the Good Food Guide, the ever popular restaurant can be particularly busy during peak months. To avoid disappointment, it’s best to plan ahead and book in advance. Bookings can also be made online.
