Celebrate New Year's Eve with a magical twist in your own slice of Cornish heaven.
Friends, fizz and fun; it doesn’t get better than that. Or does it? New Year’s Eve is the time to rally together for one more festive celebration. Shaking off the post-Christmas and Boxing Day slump, everyone raises a glass (or two) to the New Year and all the exciting possibilities ahead. So what could make it better? Well, it’s all about location and this year, it’s Padstow.
Nestled in Cornwall’s north coast in the sheltered Camel Estuary, Padstow is a quaint fishing cove with oodles of character. Built around the harbour, the town is a pick n’ mix of traditional cottages, restaurants and shops before giving way to beautiful sprawling countryside. Adorning postcards and chocolate boxes aplenty for its pretty aesthetics and charm, Padstow is a sight to behold all year round. Just wait until see you it at New Year.
New Year’s Eve in Padstow often benefits from the area’s milder climate and with this exciting time of year the town undergoes a festive transformation. Lights line the harbour sending an array of colours scattering across the water. Bars and restaurants open their doors as warmth and laughter spill out onto the streets. The quayside comes alive as anticipation builds, excitement carries on the breeze and a magical atmosphere descends.
Away from the hubbub of cities, Padstow’s visitors can choose their own perfect way to celebrate. Shops sell local goods and produce so you can stay in for a cosy night together, or if you prefer, restaurants like Paul Ainsworth’s Rojanos in the Square or Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant offer an evening of fine dining.
If you’re looking to welcome in the New Year feeling fresher than ever, there are seven different beaches all within a short drive. It’s easy to spend the day exploring and if you’ve got a four-legged friend, they can come with you too. Once you’ve been out and about, there’s no better way to warm up than heading to one of the many pubs and bars to celebrate with old friends and new. Whichever you choose though, ending the evening watching fireworks soar and burst over the harbour is a must.
These days, there’s as much to see and do in winter as there is in summer and New Year’s Eve is the perfect getaway. Fresh salty air, fewer crowds than big cities and plenty of atmosphere all accompanied by jaw-dropping scenery; head to Padstow and welcome the New Year in with a little Cornish twist.
